How it works
Two ways to use it, both in a couple of minutes.
-
Guess the word of the day
Everyone gets the same word each day, in English or Spanish. Solve it, compare your result with the team and come back tomorrow for a new one.
-
Or open a room
Pick the round length (2, 3 or 5 minutes) and the word language, then share the link or the QR code with your team.
-
Race on every word
Everyone guesses the same word at the same time on their own board, with up to 90 seconds per word. Fewer tries means more points, and the first to solve gets a bonus.

Why it works for a work break
A five-letter word is a small, complete puzzle: a couple of minutes, a clear goal and a little satisfaction at the end. It is a real change of focus without asking for much energy.
The word of the day gives a team a shared topic. Everyone has the same word, so the coffee-break question writes itself: how many tries did it take you? Rooms turn the same idea into a short race.
It also suits remote and hybrid teams: share your colored squares in the team chat, or paste the room link and each person joins from their own device.
Ideas for your team
- Post your result in the team chat every morning and keep a weekly ranking
- Open a room on Friday afternoon for a quick race
- Mixed-language team? Alternate the word language each week
- Start with a word that has several common vowels
Frequently asked questions
Is GuessBrawl free?
Yes. It is free, needs no account or download and runs in any modern browser.
What do the colors mean?
Green: the letter is in the word and in that spot. Yellow: it is in the word, somewhere else. Grey: it is not in the word. You can turn on high-contrast colors at any time.
When does the word of the day change?
At midnight in Ecuador (UTC−5), at the same moment for everyone, so the whole team always has the same word.
How are points counted in a room?
Solving a word is worth 7 points minus the tries used, so 6 on the first try and 1 on the sixth. The first person to solve each word gets 2 extra points.
Are accents needed in Spanish?
No. Type the word without accents; the ñ counts as its own letter and has its own key.
